Well, it has been a week of ups and downs.
My colleague Chrsitine and I moved into a great house this week. I will start with the good…as you should always start with good news, right? We are house sitting for a colleague and her family who are back in the US for home leave. We have two lovely dogs
Luna aka attention hogger
Lobo aka Sheila’s Favorite
We will be here until the first week of August. The house is huge and is soooo much better than the hotel. The dogs have been great company for me because my week had taken a bad turn.
Unfortunately, the same day I was moving, I got an email that morning from a friend back home that was titled, “sad news.” Well, that can never be good, but I still opened it while sitting in my cubicle at work. (This is one of those times when you realize how nice it is to have your own office—too bad here I don’t). I definitely was not expecting the news that I did receive and quickly learned how it really feels to live oversees. The feeling of being so far away when you get bad news is not a good feeling. I don’t know how people cope with this part of oversees work. You feeI totally helpless. I won’t go into the details but I got news that a friend had passed away suddenly. My heart goes out to everyone in the Ballston 'hood that are going to have a rough time in the coming days, weeks , and months.
I nixed happy hour plans last night and stayed home with the dogs. Lobo gets very sad when his family leaves, so we were good company for each other.
Tomorrow, I may be off to volunteer at an oprhanage. Still debating on whether I am up for it or not.
